    Job Summary
    The long-term substitute is responsible for providing classroom coverage for a teacher who is absent for an extended period of time. The long-term substitute works the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher during his/her absence.

    Position Information
    The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (NRHEG) School District is seeking a 1.0 FTE Substitute Teacher (Long Term) for Panther Preschool 3 & 4 year old classroom for approximately 9 weeks during the 2025-2026 school year. This position includes providing instruction Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday from 7:30AM to 3:30PM with Friday afternoons as team prep time within the district. Providing an appropriate early childhood environment for Pre-school aged children to support their physical intellectual social and emotional development.

    Position Qualifications
    • Minnesota teaching license in one or more areas: Pre-Kindergarten Early Childhood PreK - Grade 3 or equivalent or current Long-term Substitute permit. Bachelors degree.
    • Ideal candidates will have experience working with groups of young children and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
    • Teaching experience in implementing and modifying curriculum and learning environments for young children.
    • Ability to work in a team/PLC experience
    • Dedication to positive student staff and parent relationships
    • Prefer experience with PBIS
    • Demonstrate reflective research-based response to teaching and learning
    • Candidate should also have experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated strategies that support diverse learners.
    • Must have strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    • Follow lesson plans and utilization of instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction.
    • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
    • Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion helps prepares progress reports.
    • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals.
    • Coordinate support staff and work with parents specialists and early childhood special education staff toprovide a fun safe and quality program for students of various needs.
    • Experience in supervising leading delegating and evaluating the activities of support staff personnel.
    • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters phone calls e-mails conferences etc. as needed.
    • Assist with ECFE classes & events.
    • Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
    • Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings.
    • Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis.
    • Integration of technology into instruction.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

    Specific Responsibilities
    • Collaborative work in an energetic environment interacting with students staff administrators parents and the community with multiple requests and concerns.
    • Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
    • Respond in emergency situations.
    • Know interpret and follow school District policies.
    • May plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
    • Implement lessons and activities that incorporate various methods techniques and technologies to engage and ensure student learning.
    • Create and use assessments to monitor progress of students learning and respond accordingly based on student performance.
    • Communicate student progress to all stakeholders including parents administrators and other district personnel.

    Knowledge and Skills
    • Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer software and necessary classroom technology.
    • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students staff administrators parents and the community.
    • Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
    • Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
    • Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisor the general public etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
