Part Time Accounts Assistant /Payroll Permanent based in Kettering NN15
Job Purpose:
This role supports the Finance Team in delivering accurate and timely payroll and accounting processes while maintaining the businesss financial records up to trial balance. You will play a key part in monthly reporting financial control and payroll accuracy particularly for the production team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting Duties:
- Prepare monthly accounts up to trial balance.
- Complete month-end tasks including accruals prepayments and journals.
- Reconcile nominal ledger and bank accounts regularly resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register and monthly depreciation.
- Support and cover Purchase and Sales Ledger functions when needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Assist with year-end accounts and provide audit documentation.
- Ensure records are accurate complete and aligned with statutory/company requirements.
- Carry out other ad hoc accounting duties as required.
Payroll Duties:
- Act as first point of contact for payroll queries for production staff.
- Maintain and update the companys time recording system daily.
- Resolve incomplete/inaccurate time entries with relevant departments.
- Work closely with HR to ensure payroll data is current and accurate.
- Flag any payroll discrepancies with HR in a timely manner.
- Enrol new employees and process payroll changes in the system.
- Compile and process monthly payroll in line with deadlines.
- Complete month-end payroll tasks including RTI submissions.
- Submit pension contributions and manage auto-enrolment communications.
- Ensure GDPR compliance throughout payroll processing.
- Provide cover for monthly admin payroll when required.
- Perform other ad hoc payroll-related duties as needed.
Person Specification:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills for liaising across departments.
- Proactive and professional approach to responsibilities.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a dual payroll and accounting role is essential.
- Experience producing accounts to trial balance.
- AAT ACCA or CIMA part-qualified desirable but not essential.
- Experience in an accountancy practice is beneficial but not required.
Hours of Work:
- Part-time 25 to 30 hours per week (flexible within core business hours)
