About this Job


The mission of Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB)is to provide programming that is intelligent informative educational and entertaining. LPB connects the citizens of the state by creating content that showcases Louisianas unique history people places and events.

LPB is a state network of six non-commercial television stations in Alexandria Baton Rouge Lafayette Lake Charles Monroe and Shreveport licensed to the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (LETA) established in 1971 by the Louisiana Legislature. LPB is also affiliated with WLAE-TV in New Orleans.

LPB airs quality national PBS programming including PBS NewsHour MASTERPIECE NOVA NATURE Antiques Roadshow Great Performances as well the many educational programs from PBS addition to its main channel (LPB1) LPB and PBS have a 24/7 childrens channel (LPB2) and LPB and Create TV have a how-to and lifestyle channel.

The Production Department is seeking a TV Camera Operator 3to join its creative team dedicated to sharing Louisiana stories. This role involves working closely with the director production team and anchors/reporters to capture high-quality footage. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience using various filming equipment and a strong visual sense to tell stories through film and editing. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential along with knowledge of both pre- and post-production processes. The candidate must also be comfortable holding a camera and standing for long periods.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in television or video production videography or photography for print media; OR

A bachelors degree in film studies broadcasting digital media cinematography or communications plus two years of experience in television or video production videography or photography for print media.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
- Work with the filming director production team and anchors/reporters to ensure filmed scenes are high quality and relevant to our audience. This includes documentary studio and live events.
- Use the principles of film production to ensure the proper lighting visuals sound and camera angles are used to capture the best shots possible.
- Provide alternate filming solutions such as different camera angles or effects when needed.
- Actively acquire and maintain camera equipment including stands gimbals filters and dollies.
- Adept at editing with Adobe Premiere and able to create basic graphics.
- Keep up to date on the latest camera operating technologies and trends.

Work Schedule:Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday; however varying work schedules are offered.
