Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Commercial Bank Project Manager will be responsible for initiating planning and driving the delivery of key strategic capabilities products and initiatives across the AMCB Commercial Landscape. This project manager will work with external and TD stakeholders to create and implement the appropriate plan and delivery framework to meet enterprise business & technology needs for strategic growth and legal/regulatory implementations.

Project Ideation and Planning

  • Work with business and technology owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) and appropriate analysts to document: 1) scope of delivery and any risks and issues and 2) success criteria for a given effort
  • Create timelines delivery plans with dependencies and any other appropriate project artifacts to effectively manage stakeholders milestones and expectations
  • Ensure compliance with TD artifacts and standards

Implementation & Delivery

  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure smooth project development testing implementation and delivery of intended outcomes
  • Work with teams to understand pain points and roadblocks and escalate accordingly
  • Ensure appropriate risk third party and change/stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ability to effectively manage required cadences and ceremonies (as part of a well-developed communication plan) touching all levels (executive to developer) of the organization

Preferred Skills & Experience include: Proven track record of defining and delivering medium to large projects/programs in a fast-paced and complex financial institution Strong PM skills to identify potential risks and issues to proactively mitigate them Demonstrated effectiveness in diverse software delivery environments Highly effective communication skills including presentations and excellent verbal and written communication to effectively build relationships present progress/outcomes/key decisions gain consensus and alignment drive resolutions and deliver outcomes Knowledge of the systems and platforms supporting clients internal support staff and key stakeholders in the Commercial Bank In depth knowledge of tools and methodologies needed to deliver projects/programs (MS office tools like MS Project JIRA Confluence remote collaboration tools) Understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Outcomes to help drive decisions throughout the project lifecycle Extensive experience working with external vendors and external software solution providers

Other Considerations

  • Experience in large financial institution product and/or technology development
  • Experience with Agile software delivery an asset
  • Remote working arrangement is an option. Travel into an office may be possible occasionally.

Plan manage and deliver distinct projects through all specific phases in alignment with business and / or enterprise strategies. Provide leadership direction and coaching to teams(s) while partnering with business and executive stakeholders within a single or across multiple Lines of Business (LoB).

Depth & Scope:

  • Manages projects with moderate regulatory oversight
  • Project risk profile is low to medium
  • Management direction or executive oversight is provided as necessary
  • Typically leads the delivery of Tier 3 and /or Tier 4 projects with up to medium complexity profiles
  • May indirectly manage a cross-LoB Project team consisting of Business Analysts Business SMEs and Technology
  • Resources where applicable to the project
  • May manage a number of small projects at any given time and time horizon of projects generally range from short to medium term

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Project Management Certification required
  • 7 years relevant experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices procedures and principles of project management
  • Exposure to financial management with respect to tracking forecasting and managing project budgets.
  • Ability to make an impact influence and achieve results with effective negotiation problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Commitment to team skills development and ability to attract top talent
  • Team player with ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Engages executive sponsor to ensure active participation on project initiatives
  • Engages appropriate stakeholders to identify and manage required outcomes of projects for the business
  • Establishes effective project oversight and other governance bodies and engages the correct levels to support the direction for the project
  • Provides ongoing communication to key stakeholders including the Project Sponsor Business Project Owner Program Manager and Portfolio Manager to ensure they are aware of significant changes to the project status in a timely manner
  • Responds to inquiries and escalates concerns from stakeholders at all levels in the organization (technical business Senior and Executive Management)
  • Provides advice and guidance to business partners and project team as required regarding best practices in project management
  • Applies Organizational Change Management principles and practices in order to effectively manage the people side of change (e.g. stakeholder analysis business process management people readiness sustainment planning etc.)
  • Communicates project summary status financials etc. to appropriate high-level executives at the Bank
  • Collaborates with the appropriate partners to ensure required resources are assigned to the project for successful delivery
  • Assesses and ensures that customer experience / stakeholder implications are appropriately managed
  • Builds consensus and relationships with project team and business
  • Leads the project team stakeholders and key project deliverables

Employee/Team Accountabilities:

  • Indirectly manages a cross LoB Project team consisting of Business Analysts Requirements SMEs Business SMEs and Technology
  • Resources where applicable to the project
  • Provides advice and counsel to project team and business partners
  • Liaises with external vendors and consultants as required
  • Coaches leads and mentors project team members and provides regular performance assessments to employees and their people managers
  • Supports effective onboarding and offboarding of project resources
  • Effectively manages project resources and external contractors / consultants in coordination of competing priorities
  • Educates project team members on governance process and facilitates related sessions
  • Leverages the creativity and experience of project team members to solve issues as they arise
  • Develops an understanding of the technical / business aspects of the project in order to effectively manage the project and resources
  • Works effectively in teams by being driven to win for the TD team working well with diverse teams
  • Manages the project team stakeholders and key project deliverables
  • Shares project experiences and learning with project management team and PMO peers
