Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Associate Production Engineering Specialist (Contract) to join our team based in Columbus MS.
This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
In this role you will be responsible for translating Engineering design data for all technical aspects into work instructions for fabrication assembly and installation of sheet metal composite and electrical parts. Youll also be responsible forassisting the Production Engineering Specialist (PES) team in creating and maintaining released/approved data structures within the dedicated MRP system to ensure conformity to design configuration management quality assurance and material planning/schedule dimensions of the role include:
Making recommendations to the PES team pertaining to design data analysis to determine operational task sequencing to increase efficiency for industrial flow
Making recommendations to Design Engineering to gain efficiencies throughout the life cycle of the product(s).
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to streamline production flow tact and material planning and forecasting.

Your Working Environment:
On the eastern border of Mississippi youll find Columbus home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. Its here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.
Your Challenges:
Work Preparation: 50%
Audit technical work instructions and provide feedback to the PES team for potential updates. This includes all design data required to describe the complete process required to manufacture assemble test process and deliver the products of the company.
Evaluate current sequence tasks to ensure manufacturing assembly and installation requirements are implemented to improve efficiency and provide recommendations to the PES team. Assist to confirm that tasks are in coordination with industrial schedules back shops production lines and retrofit as required.
Input engineering design data requirements into the MRP system including but not limited to routing instructions bill of materials (BOM) design and special process references production resource tools (PRT) and standard times as required by the PES team.
Coordination: 30%
Coordinate with the PES team on creating and auditing existing work instructions to enhance internal products and ensure that work orders contain more detailed information to add more value for internal customers.
Coordinate with PES Data Management Group (DMG) Planning Procurement Engineering Quality and Industrial teams to ensure accurate communication of design requirements in order to facilitate the manufacturing and installation for serial production retrofit and new helicopter completion (NHC) activities.
Coordinate any material and operational instruction updates to the PES team to ensure new and existing design data is made available to applicable team(s).
Collaborate within a team environment to develop creative ideas and solutions and facilitate continuous improvements.
Configuration: 15%
Possess basic knowledge of Configuration Management in order to administer the design implementation and evolution of all products of the company related to Parts 21 and 145.
Execute design data updates and implement affected changes into serial production retrofit and NHC to maintain configuration control of all parts assemblies and aircraft as required by the PES team.
Other duties as assigned: 5%
Perform periodical inspections of MRP structures to ensure accuracies and efficiencies are being achieved including but not limited to standard routing times production resource tools and document references and provide feedback to the PES team for evaluation.
Provide operational support to other departments as required.
Your Boarding Pass:
Possess an Associate degree or equivalent work experience (2 years)
Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or customization environment.
Knowledge of industrial and/or manufacturing processes to execute the life cycle of a product.
Ability to use computers and associated hardware and software
Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
Preferred Education/Skills:
Bachelors degree
Knowledge with material requirements planning systems such as SAP.
Experience with FAA Part 21 and Part 145 production environments
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Able to read understand and interpret engineering drawings reports industrial standards/norms and other technical data
Operational experience within SAP systems as it relates to the requirements of this position

Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings. Daily
Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications. Daily
Equipment Operation (personal computer telephone copies fax machine and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily
Carrying: able to carry documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Several times a week
Lifting: able to lift documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Several times a week
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Several times a month
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings working on the computer. Daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Daily
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. None
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes but is not limited to Safety Shoes Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Respirators/Masks and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
