Lead Pavement Management Specialist

We are seeking a Lead Pavement Management Specialist to join our GIS & Asset Management team and work alongside our skilled GIS professionals and civil engineers.

As the Lead Pavement Management Specialist you will lead the integration of GIS web technologies and data systems into pavement and asset management projects. Your role will include managing pavement condition evaluations preparing maintenance/budgetary plans and collaborating with clients to help drive proactive decision-making for infrastructure maintenance and improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee pavement condition assessments and inventory collection using advanced field data tools (e.g. mobile GIS apps and LiDAR)
• Aid with creating dynamic interactive GIS dashboards and web maps for data visualization and stakeholder engagement
• Track project progress; manage projects by monitoring scope budget and schedule to ensure successful on-time and on-budget delivery
• Assist with the preparation of client-facing visualizations narrative reports and interactive web maps to support capital improvement plans and public presentations
• Supervise and mentor GIS staff fostering technical skills development
• Coordinate with AI Vendors monitor project milestones and provide regular updates during internal meetings
• Adhere to quality control standards and ensure compliance with project specifications and technical best practices
• Partner with team members on project deliverables including standard reports GIS maps and ESRI GIS deployments
• Work closely with the leaders on client management business development initiatives and proposal development

Preferred location is BETAs Chicopee office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Required Experience/Skills:

• 7 years of pavement management GIS or related technical infrastructure fields
• Deep familiarity with ESRI tools (ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online/Enterprise) and field data collection hardware/software
• Proven geodatabase design and spatial schema modeling skills
• Experience building dashboards web maps and GIS-based visualization tools
• Experience with the ESRI Suite and related field data collection tools
• Proven ability to develop comprehensive capital improvement plans
• Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway sidewalk and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a quick ability to learn new skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• Bachelors degree in GIS Geography Engineering Planning Computer Science or a related field
• Experience working with municipal clients especially in public works or engineering contexts
