Saint Josephs University is seeking an experienced professional to serve in the role of Community Standards Investigator. Reporting through the Office of the Vice President of Student Life to the Assistant Dean of Students/Deputy Title IX Coordinator the Community Standards Investigator will be responsible for investigating alleged student violations of Community Standards and other University policies. This position will play a key role in upholding the Universitys standards for student behavior by initiating and conducting prompt thorough and impartial investigations preparing detailed reports and working closely with students staff and other University partners throughout the investigative process.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary investigator for alleged student violations of Community Standards and other University policies.
Conduct thorough reliable and impartial investigation in response to reports.
Maintain relevant documentation including an investigative timeline and records of correspondence statements interviews evidence and questions for parties/witnesses.
Gather and analyze available evidence and assess credibility of parties/witnesses.
Actively foster and maintain a climate that is supportive of all students involved in investigations and Community Standards processes.
Assist the Office of Community Standards in providing training professional development and outreach activities that promote ethical behavior decision-making and awareness of the Community Standards process to members of the University community.
Work collaboratively with University partners in Student Life including Public Safety Residence Life and others as appropriate as well local law enforcement (when necessary).
Assist in the coordination of the Universitys Clery Compliance Program and the publishing of required reports including but not limited to the Annual Security & Annual Fire Safety Report and the Campus Hazing Transparency Report including keeping detailed statistics of Clery crimes.
Assist the Office of Title IX & Equity with investigations as needed related to allegations of discrimination harassment and retaliation under University policies.
Maintain knowledge of relevant state and local laws University policies federal Title IX policies and guidance the Stop Campus Hazing Act the Clery Act the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and due process protections as they apply to Community Standards proceedings.
Participate in annual training appropriate to investigative responsibilities.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned or needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
Bachelors degree
Experience conducting investigations in education employment or law enforcement.
Experience drafting and finalizing investigative reports preferably in a higher education context
Demonstrated judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
Exceptional critical thinking skills
Demonstrated skills in writing concise logical reports to convey complex issues;
Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress
Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and success in working with diverse constituencies to support a healthy and safe campus environment
Strong and effective interpersonal skills
The ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs
Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with students staff and faculty members within the University community.
Preferred
Masters Degree in Student Affairs Higher Education or similar.
Experience working in higher education.
Investigative experience in an educational setting.
