Job Description
Lab Technologist
Purpose: This position is responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to support the medical services provided by Medical Center.
Job Summary: The incumbent goal is to perform laboratory tests analyze results and report findings to support medical diagnosis & treatment.
Main Responsibilities & Tasks
- Perform routine and specialized tests on samples using established methods & techniques
- Analyze test results prepare reports and communicate findings to supervisors or other team members
- Ensure accurate documentation of results
- Operate calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments & equipment ensuring they are functioning properly
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of laboratory supplies & reagents notifying management when inventory levels are low
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Assist in the development implementation and monitoring of quality control procedures to ensure accurate results
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to testing procedures equipment or sample quality
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols regulations and standards
- Work closely with other lab personnel researchers or clinical staff to support research diagnostics or product development efforts
- Communicate test results findings and recommendations to medical staff
- & other stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to medical staff on laboratoryrelated matters
- Assist in training new staff or interns on laboratory protocols safety procedures and equipment usage
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior laboratory staff & other medical personnel
- Stay updated on new laboratory technologies techniques and methodologies to improve laboratory operations & services
- Job descriptions are written to reflect major accountabilities and will not describe all the tasks which may be performed by an individual. The incumbent shall perform any additional related duties assigned by the respective line manager to meet operational requirement
- The incumbent shall ensure the highest standards are followed to safeguard the sensitive and confidential data of the organization
Minimum Required Qualifications Certificates & Skills
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology Clinical Laboratory Science Biochemistry or a related field
- Minimum 5 years GCC experience in a laboratory setting preferably working in a medical center or hospital
- Any relevant certification or training such as:
- Lab Technologist license from the QDHPMoPH (Mandatory)
- Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist (CMLT)
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification
- Occupational Health and Safety Certification (OHSC)
- BLS
- Valid lab technologist license (Mandatory Qatari licensed)
