The individual in this position needs excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible to manage a variety of functions set priorities and adjust to variable priorities. The Lead Teachermust be current on new teaching methods and resource materials in a specified fieldproviding instruction in specialized skill areas; must keep client and staff information confidential as well as respectfully and appropriately interact with individuals with a variety of disabilities.

The Division of Services for the Blind provides services to people who are visually impaired blind and deaf- blind to help them reach their goals of independence and employment.
About the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS):
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest most complex agencies in the state and has approximately 17000 employees. The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
Experience working with individuals who are blind visually impaired or deafblind
Experience teaching teens and/or adults
Knowledge of NCDPI criteria for teachers
Knowledge of teaching methods for a range of ages from teens to adults to older adults
Supervisory experience whether for staff interns or volunteers
