SUMMARY:To provide transportation services to Dysart Unified School District (DUSD) students to and from school and extra-curricular activities in a safe and efficient manner. To train test and certify bus drivers and bus aides.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
- Report undisciplined students to proper authority and fills out required forms.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Keep to assigned schedule.
- Performs route schedule in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform mandatory pre-trip inspections.
- Notifies proper authority of mechanical and safety device failure.
- Pick-up and discharge of students only at authorized stop.
- Transport only authorized students and authorized personnel.
- Conducts bus safety and evacuation drills.
- Report all accidents to proper authority and complete related reports.
- Conducts initial certification and commercial drivers license training for new employees.
- Conduct in-service refresher and remedial training for all certified bus drivers and aides.
- Perform road watch functions to verify route times safe driving student discipline and bus stop issues.
- Coach drivers in effective discipline procedures.
- Evaluate drivers and aides as required.
- Drives routes as required.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with employees students and community.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Minimum three (3) years experience driving school buses in Arizona.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR card.
- Obtain and maintain a validArizona Class B License with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements.
- Third Party tester certificate for Arizona Commercial Drivers License.
- Obtain and maintaina DOT Physical Certification.
- Obtain and maintaina DPS Physical Performance Certification.
- Submit to Annual and Random Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Acceptable driving record for the last (3) three years.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move object. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor environment.
