GIS Specialist
Interwest a SAFEbuilt Company is seeking a GIS Specialist to perform a variety of professional technical and analytical duties. Responsibilities involve the design development and implementation of new and existing small and medium-sized applications to support our local government clients. Responsibilities include working as a high-level GIS and data specialist for programming and application development.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements GIS and relational databases in various formats.
- Designs and implements custom applications both for the desktop and the internet.
- Conducts data analysis and preparation of documents data reports and maps.
- Ensures that accurate and complete metadata are developed for all data sets created
- Metadata is distributed with data when requested by outside agencies.
- Working in a team setting with other staff members.
- Provides recommendations for project personnel hardware software data budget and scheduling.
- Communicates complex technical issues both verbally and in writing to non-technical GIS users.
- Provides technical expertise to appointed committees agency staff other agencies and the public.
- Responds to public inquiries with data and information.
- Coordinates with other staff to develop materials needed for public meetings work groups council meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Facilitate and drive the system integration and conversion internal process.
- Operate at the leading edge of technology.
- Identify and document business processes issues metrics and capabilities.
- Support and provide management with metrics reports and schedules as necessary.
- Document and validate system architecture.
- Support change management and communications programs and activities.
General Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Geography Geodetic Engineering/Science Civil Engineering GIS or related field or equivalent work experience
- 2 years with experience with ArcGIS
- SQL and Oracle development experience
- ArcGIS server geo-processing services
- Great verbal and documentation skills
GIS Integration Experience
- The ArcGIS suite of products
- Python & Geoprocessing
- Oracle 19C and PostgreSQL
- Esri / ArcGIS software
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for management of public works projects including client liaison agency coordination scheduling and budget.
Manages project teams consisting of multi-disciplined technical staff members.
Functions as a liaison between City staff and other technical groups within or outside the company.
Makes presentations before clients city councils boards and commissions.
Responsible for the preparation of engineering project proposals and task orders including the determination of scope schedule and fees.
Responsible for preparing City Council Staff Reports and other reporting documents.
Recommends develops and implements project programs procedures and policies.
Provides public outreach support prepares presentations and participates in public workshops.
Familiar with local State and federal requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of professional experience in civil engineering design and project management.
Bachelors degree in civil engineeringor related fields.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.
Ability to establish and continuously deliver a positive interactive level of customer service to the general public development community and City government staff.
Possess strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to effectively manage schedules scope of work budgets and project development teams to deliver quality assignments on time and within budget.
Ability to prepare read and interpret engineering reports and plans; organize and coordinate the preparation of engineering drawings plans and estimates; prepare maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections indicating relationship of topographical contours and elevations to various types of structures and other existing pertinent objects; and perform and/or coordinate the design work of setting horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for streets and underground utility improvements.
Ability to function independently on project management and technical matters.
Ability to use or familiar with AutoCAD.
COMPENSATION: SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a strong benefit package.
Salary Range:$32.00 - $35.00 hourly
