JOB DESCRIPTION: Monitor
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Monitor is responsible for providing student support on school grounds during school events or during their transportation for their safety and well-being.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Monitor:
- Assists students for the purpose of providing safe environments for their well-being.. *
- Attends unit meetings in-service training workshops etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions. *
- Instructs students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well-being.. *
- Monitors students while on school property or at a school event for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.. *
- Prepares reports (e.g. incident reports student behavior attendance safety concerns etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities providing written reference conveying information and/or complying with established guidelines. *
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; and ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors).
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED.
Preferred: 1 years of experience working in a school is preferred.

- Additional Work Conditions and Physical Abilities: Requires travel to multiple sites.
