We are partnering with a mission-critical leader at the heart of South Africas national payments infrastructure. As the central trusted partner for the countrys financial ecosystem our client operates the platforms that enable millions of secure transactions daily underpinning the stability and growth of the national economy. You will not just be gathering requirements; you will be the critical architect of solutions facilitating discussions between major stakeholders and ensuring that every project moves from a high-level concept to a successfully implemented reality. Performance Objectives for Year One
Success in this role isnt measured by years of experience but by what you can achieve. Within your first 12 months you will be expected to:
- Lead a Core System Enhancement Project: Take charge of the end-to-end analysis for a key national payment system enhancement. Your success will be measured by delivering a comprehensive set of signed-off functional technical and data requirements ensuring the project is perfectly positioned for the development and testing lifecycle.
- Architect a New Feature from Scratch: For a new service or system feature own the design process from start to finish. You will create and deliver a complete set of user-centric wireframes and process flow diagrams achieving consensus from both product and technical teams on the proposed system logic and user experience.
- Become the Go-To Project SME: Establish yourself as the primary subject matter expert for at least one major project. Your impact will be seen in your ability to act as the vital communication bridge between business development and testing teams significantly reducing ambiguity and rework cycles.
- Drive Stakeholder Alignment: Successfully facilitate requirements and solution design workshops with diverse stakeholders including major banks and internal product managers. The goal is to manage expectations validate needs and ensure the final documented solution has clear buy-in and solves the core business problem.
- Champion Proactive Solutioning: Transition from a reactive query-handler to a proactive problem-solver. Your success will be demonstrated by identifying and resolving at least one critical cross-functional dependency or risk before it impacts the project timeline.
Profile for Success
To achieve these objectives you will need to have a track record of accomplishment not just a list of skills. We are looking for evidence of:
- Demonstrated success in translating complex business needs within a regulated environment (ideally financial services or payments) into detailed technical and functional specifications.
- Proven experience guiding complex software projects through the full development lifecycle (SDLC) from initial requirements gathering to supporting development and testing teams.
- A portfolio or examples of creating clear effective process maps wireframes and system diagrams using tools like Visio or similar platforms.
- Experience in a role where you were the primary liaison between business users and technical development teams proving your ability to manage communication and stakeholder expectations effectively.
