Bookkeeper Pietermaritzburg Our client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their fast-paced team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented deadline-driven and able to work independently while ensuring accuracy across all areas of financial processing.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping to Trial Balance
Process all journals and general ledger reconciliations
Issue customer invoices and monthly statements
Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
Allocate payments and manage credit control
Reconcile debtor accounts monthly
Receive verify and capture supplier invoices
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries
Prepare payment schedules and ensure timely payments
Maintain accurate creditor records and age analysis
Prepare reconcile and submit VAT returns and statutory requirements
Process monthly payroll on Pastel Payroll
HR Administration
Load payments onto the online banking platform for approval
Manage and reconcile bank accounts
Requirements
Minimum 35 years experience in a similar bookkeeping role
Diploma or certificate in bookkeeping accounting or finance (advantageous)
Previous experience performing the payroll function is essential
Strong working knowledge of Sage Pastel Accounting and Sage Pastel Payroll
Good understanding of VAT PAYE UIF and statutory compliance
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise manage time and meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
