Reporting to the Financial Manager and the General Manager the Accountant will oversee and support the full spectrum of financial activities. Your role is vital in ensuring accurate financial reporting compliance with controls and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate financial records including ledgers journals cashbooks and reconciliations
- Prepare and process supplier payments ensuring contractual terms are met
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare payment batches
- Coordinate with suppliers to request and verify statements and outstanding invoices
- Assist with preparing monthly quarterly and annual financial reports
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial information
- Adhere to internal financial controls policies and procedures
- Support the Finance Manager in monitoring department budgets and CAPEX requests
- Ensure hotel accounting systems and tools are used effectively and updated as required
- Contribute to month-end processes and internal audits
- Work closely with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
- Provide support and coaching on financial procedures to department heads
- Assist in preparing hotel-wide budgets and annual plans
- Support debtor and creditor management processes
- A recognised Degree in Accounting (essential)
- Background in hospitality or hotel/lodge environment
- Proficient in South African accounting standards and accounting software
- Strong user of Microsoft Office and hotel management systems
- Solid understanding of financial compliance and reporting
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
