Job Description
Conduct advanced finite element modelling of structural systems using software such as ETABS ABAQUS SAP2000 Robot Structural Analysis or equivalent
Utilize shell 3D and plane stress/strain elements effectively in FE analysis
Assess load paths stress flow deformation and failure mechanisms in specialized construction systems and building technologies
Produce comprehensive analysis reports including design calculations and recommendations for structural optimisation
Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate FEM results into the overall project execution and design process
Ensure all modelling and design work adheres to applicable engineering codes (e.g. SANS Eurocode) and internal standards
Skills & Experience:
Solid background in structural engineering particularly with an emphasis on finite element modelling
Skilled in using advanced FEM software such as ABAQUS ETABS ANSYS SAP2000 Robot or similar platforms
Strong grasp of structural mechanics material behaviour and design principles based on relevant codes and standards
Qualification:
A Bachelors or masters degree in civil or Structural Engineering is essential; working towards ECSA registration is advantageous.
