Job Description

Senior Bookkeeper (South Africa)

Location: Remote (South Africa)

Working Hours: 9am - 5pm CST

Compensation: $2000 - $2500 dependent upon experience

About the Role

Were seeking a Senior-Level Bookkeeper to manage sophisticated multi-entity bookkeeping within a high-trust family-run business. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of core financial operations while contributing strategic insight as we expand including the upcoming launch of our Texas-based safari operation.

If youre detail-oriented trustworthy and experienced in managing the financial complexity of multiple entities we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records post journal entries and reconcile bank and credit card accounts across several LLCs.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Prepare and review financial statements including balance sheets and profit & loss reports.
  • Payroll & Compliance: Coordinate payroll processing ensure proper tax filing and interface with CPAs or tax advisors as needed.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor income expenses and projections to maintain healthy cash flow and financial stability.
  • Budgeting Support: Assist in developing budgets tracking actuals and conducting variance analyses.
  • Financial Reporting: Create tailored reports and executive summaries for the business owners.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance financial systems workflows and documentation processes.
  • Multi-Entity Coordination: Manage intercompany transactions and maintain clear accurate records across multiple entities.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive business and personal financial information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 5 years in a senior bookkeeping or accounting role
  • Proven experience managing multiple entities or client accounts
  • Background in hospitality real estate or high-net-worth family offices is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (or similar platforms)
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace Slack and modern workflow tools
  • Fluent professional English (written and verbal)
  • Proactive and clear communicator
  • Highly organized detail-obsessed and deadline-driven
  • Self-sufficient and solutions-oriented
  • Handles confidential information with integrity and tact
