The post is positioned within the Stellenbosch University Unit for International Credentialling (SU-UIC) which is situated within the Centre for Capacity Development in Africa in the Stellenbosch University International (SU International) Division. SU International is a professional support service division within the responsibility area of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Strategy Global and Corporate Affairs. SU International contributes to the institutional objectives and supports all faculties with their internationalisation activities.

The SU-UIC supports the evaluation and quality assurance of foreign and international qualifications to enable access of eligible applicants to quality higher education institutions. The vision of the Unit is to be a trusted effective quality assurer for international credentialling in and for Africa especially related to external school-leaving examinations administered in Africa enabling access to quality higher education institutions in a global market. Currently the SU-UIC externally quality assures the Independent Examinations Boards (IEB) International Secondary Certificate (ISC) Africas first international secondary qualification. The Unit also consults with the Examinations Council of Lesotho on their new national secondary qualification the Lesotho Advanced Secondary Certificate.

The incumbent will provide internal administrative and logistical support related to the external quality assurance processes and consultative services that the Unit provides.

Duties/Pligte

The duties of the SU-UIC administrator will include the following:
  • Administration related to UIC committees external moderators and specialists.
  • Administrative support related to the quality assurance functions and services.
  • Compiling and collating documentation and assistance with logistics related to meetings workshops and training.
  • Supporting the UICs reputation and public perception building by creating and maintaining logos documents templates flyers website and online forms in line with SU and UIC branding.
  • Administration related to training courses facilitated by the SU-UIC.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Diploma (NQF level 6).
  • Three years proven work experience in higher education administration or legal or policy environment.
  • Knowledge of university contexts and systems.
  • Very strong administrative skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Competent in organising and working in online environment and online meetings.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve multi-task and prioritisation of tasks.
  • Proven ability to work in teams whileadheringe to deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Proficient verbal and reading skills in Afrikaans.
  • Computer skills in MS Office Word and proven proficiency in Excel MS Teams and database handling.
  • Dynamic interpersonal and cross-cultural competencies with self-confidence to engage with people across cultures at all levels.
  • Availability after office-hours during high volume periods.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Bachelors qualification.
  • Knowledge of school leaving examination systems and processes related to quality assurance.
  • Proficient verbal and reading skills in Afrikaans.
  • Experience with university systems (financial and HR systems).
  • Experience in event planning management and execution.
  • Proficiency in Southern African languages.
