Job Description
Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and motivated VSD Service & Commissioning Technician/engineer to join ourdynamic team. This role is responsible for the installation commissioning fault-finding maintenance and repair ofvariable speed drives (VSDs) across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. The successfulcandidate will also participate in a standby roster and attend call-outs as required.
- Install commission and test VSD systems on customer sites according to project specifications andsafety standards.
- Diagnose faults perform repairs and carry out preventive maintenance on a variety of VSD modelsand associated control equipment.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers on-site and remotely.
- Complete service reports commissioning documents and maintain accurate records of workperformed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies safety regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Participate in an on-call standby rotation to respond to urgent service requests outside normal
- working hours.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused attitude during service visits and call-outs.
- Support sales and engineering teams with technical input when required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant technical qualification (e.g. Electrical Trade Certificate Diploma in Electrical Engineering
or equivalent).
Proven experience in installation commissioning maintenance and repair of VSDs (experience with
major brands such as ABB Siemens Danfoss Schneider etc. is highly desirable).
Strong knowledge of electrical systems motor control and automation.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings schematics and manuals.
Valid drivers license.
Prior experience with standby/call-out duties will be advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
Flexibility to travel to customer sites and work outside regular business hours when on standby.
Physical & Other Requirements:
Capable of working at heights in confined spaces or in industrial environments as needed.
Ability to lift carry and handle equipment or tools relevant to the role.
