Job Description

Introduction

Law firm in Pretoria East is looking for a Junior Attorney to join their team in Pretoria.

Requirements:

  • LLB Degree from an accredited institution
  • Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
  • Between 3 to 5 years post-admission experience in general or civil litigation Banking law
  • Strong working knowledge of litigation processes court procedures and relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a litigation caseload independently and effectively
  • Exceptional drafting legal research and advocacy skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients

Key duties:

  • Draft review and finalise legal documents including contracts settlement agreements and court pleadings.
  • Provide sound legal advice to major financial sector clients with a focus on litigation strategies and debt recovery solutions.
  • Manage high-value defended matters from inception to finalisation including the negotiation and settlement of disputes and full representation in court proceedings.
  • Support senior attorneys with complex dispute resolution debt collection matters and contractual disputes.
  • Develop case strategies for banking-related litigation including pre-litigation negotiation and risk assessment.
  • Conduct direct consultations with clients to assess cases provide advice and negotiate settlement terms where applicable.
  • Maintain meticulous case records monitor procedural timelines and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit detailed monthly matter reports and litigation performance matrices to management.
