Salary: 40497 - 45413 per annum

The Role
We are looking for an individual with a PhD in law (or near completion) who shares our values and can contribute to the teaching of tort law and law and gender. An ability to teach criminal law is is a 12-month fixed-term post (1 September 2025 to 29 Aug 2026) primarily to deliver replacement teaching with the opportunity to develop your research/scholarship.

Key accountabilities:
- Contribute to the delivery and as required the planning and design of modules
- Design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning materials resources and activities
- Set mark and assess course work and examinations providing timely and effective feedback to students in line with University policy and utilise online and digitised curricula and education frameworks
- Supervising undergraduate and taught postgraduate students as required
- Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor.
- Operate as an active citizen in the Newcastle Law School community and wider University
- Have a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion and an understanding of how individual behaviour can contribute to a positive research and education culture
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks to support your area of teaching research and/or engagement
- Undertake administrative duties as required by Head of School
The Person
Knowledge skills and experience
- Demonstrable teaching experience of undergraduate LLB students
- Subject knowledge of tort law and law and gender (either from previous study teaching experience or research expertise) and capacity to teach these subjects
- Evidence or the potential to provide a high-quality educational experience rooted instrong disciplinary knowledge that engages challenges and inspires our students
- Ability to supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate students research projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications
- A good LLB Honours degree
- PhD (or equivalent) at or near completion (strictly within three months of submission at time of application) in a relevant subject
- HE teaching qualification or equivalent experience (Desirable)
