Part-time (4/8ths) Medical Technologist (Post Level 9)

Duties/Pligte
Liaising with laboratories in Africa (Kenya Ghana Uganda) who will ship isolates to Stellenbosch University (SU).
Reconciling shipping logs with received isolates.
Assessing purity and viability of isolates and identifying isolates using MS and/or PCR.
Performing susceptibility testing of isolates using broth microdilution agar dilution and gradient diffusion in line with international guidelines.
Preparing isolates for long term storage at -80C.
Managing the quality management system for the above activities including equipment logs QC documentation and corrective action / preventive action as needed.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
Appropriate qualification as a medical technologist (clinical pathology or microbiology).
Registration with the HPCSA as a medical technologist.
At least five years experience working in an accredited microbiology laboratory.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
Experience working in a research environment would be preferable.
Experience with laboratory accreditation and ISO15189 would be preferable.
