Job Description

South Africas leading online retailer is looking for a highly talented MARKETPLACE ANALYST to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Commercial Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify design and implement operational automations for existing processes.
  • Investigate data sources to identify inaccuracies and develop data cleaning processes to correct these.
  • Create bespoke analytics to advise business decisions.
  • Work with BI team to design and implement monitoring.
  • Regular reporting using BI tools such as Looker.
  • Identify opportunities for then designing implementing and maintaining new data-based systems and processes for streamlining operational inefficiencies and backlogs and to create new operational functionality where needed.
  • Solve ambiguous problems with less well-defined inputs and outputs; drive to the heart of the problem and identify root causes.
  • Learn and understand the broad range of Takealot data resources and develop knowledge of how when and which data sources to use.
  • Document and maintain Marketplace shared knowledge and SOPs providing technical detail using the Takealot centralised knowledge repository.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and teaching of technical knowledge and skills throughout the Marketplace team such as advanced Excel Google Sheets or writing SQL.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree or better in Mathematics Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in business analytics or similar role.

Attributes Required:

  • KNIME / alteryx / dataform or other ETL software or equivalent
  • GoogleBigQuery OR SQL
  • Strong Mathematics Skills
  • Data wrangling and data scrubbing
  • Data-obsessed analytical and able to generate actionable insights driven by data analytics.
  • Solutions-oriented can-do attitude and high energy
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong aptitude to learn new systems
  • Strong understanding of business processes acumen and interlinked relationships
  • Ability to approach problems logically and with good judgement to ensure the appropriate customer outcome
  • Versatile and with the appetite to learn by doing
