Engineering Lead, API (Full Stack Developer)

To scope plan design and deliver complex end to end solutions against required standards and timelines. To direct guide and oversee technical solutions delivery interpreting business requirements defining technical tasks engineer quality software end to end testing and troubleshooting technical questions software and database issues. To lead manage and mentor Software-; Quality Engineers across identified delivery teams to build and improve Engineering capability.

Proven ability to work effectively as both a team leader and as a member of a small team of technical staff working in an agile development environment. Track record in capability and competency building and coaching of staff is required. Minimum 5-7 years experience as a manager running a portfolio of 20 technical experts.

Key Responsibilities

• API Strategy Execution: Drive the implementation of BCBs API-first strategy aligning with the broader enterprise architecture and leveraging CIB APIs where appropriate.
• Domain Service Engineering: Design and build modular headless domain services that decouple business logic from presentation layers enabling omnichannel delivery.
• Platform Enablement: Lead the development of foundational services for BCB Platforms ensuring alignment with BIAN standards and integration with existing systems.
• Architecture & Governance: Collaborate with the Architecture Governance Committee to define and socialize milestone architectures including orchestration and customer profile services.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of engineers ensuring adherence to modern software engineering practices including CI/CD test automation and cloud-native development.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with product owners architects and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions that deliver business value.

Technical Competencies

• Proven experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices using Java or similar technologies.
• Deep understanding of headless architecture principles and serverless/cloud-native patterns (e.g. AWS Lambda Azure Functions).
• Familiarity with API management platforms such as MuleSoft and IBM API Connect including cataloguing throttling and analytics.
• Experience with BIAN-aligned service domains and semantic APIs.
• Strong knowledge of integration patterns event-driven architecture and data orchestration.
