Job Description
- Render research support to research in the Crop Protection Division to ensure successful completion of projects on macadamia felted coccid and polyphagous shot hole borer.
- Organise conduct and monitor research experiments using technical and theoretical understanding.
- Analyse and solve challenges encountered during experimental procedures utilising scientific knowledge.
- Able to summarise experimental results and communicate experimental results with supervisor/project leader.
- Record analyse and interpret experimental data timeously according to reputable formats.
- Proactively communicate with supervisor/project leader regarding key findings and critical problem areas.
- Disseminate project results through peer-reviewed or popular publications and presentations at conferences.
- Ensure dateline are met through effective distribution of tasks.
- BSc or BTech in Entomology Crop Protection or any other relevant qualification.
- Previous experience with pests especially pests on subtropical crops will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of integrated pest and disease management will be an advantage.
- Previous experience with planning of trial layout and statistical analysis of results will be an advantage.
- Ability to do physical work in the field and laboratory.
- Ability to liaise with researchers on project progress and participation pertaining to research activities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Valid drivers licence will be an added advantage.
