Would you like to be part of a value driven commercially oriented international environment where we enable global trade every day The Cycle Counter will be responsible for executing structured cycle counts investigating variances updating the Warehouse Management System (WMS) in real time and supporting stock integrity across all warehouse locations. The position reports directly to the Inventory Manager and plays a vital role in supporting operational excellence compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Cycle Counting & Inventory Accuracy
Perform daily weekly and monthly cycle counts in accordance with the inventory control schedule.
Ensure count accuracy across various inventory units: pallet carton case pack and stick.
Conduct blind counts and initiate wall-to-wall stock takes when necessary.
Utilize handheld RDT scanners to scan inventory and ensure WMS data accuracy.
Reconcile physical counts with WMS records identify discrepancies and escalate unresolved variances.
WMS Operations & Systems Support
Operate confidently within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to complete all counting and reconciliation tasks.
Investigate stock movement errors blocked items and transactional inconsistencies.
Collaborate with the Inventory Control and IT teams to resolve system-related issues promptly.
Ensure accurate and timely WMS updates to reflect real-time inventory positions.
Variance Investigation & Reporting
Conduct root cause analysis on inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
Prepare and submit daily and weekly inventory accuracy and variance reports.
Support the month-end reconciliation process and maintain stock accuracy dashboards.
Engage stakeholders to address and resolve recurring issues affecting inventory integrity.
SOP Compliance & Audit Readiness
Adhere strictly to all Maersk Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to inventory management.
Maintain detailed and accurate records for audit purposes.
Support compliance audits and ensure no major findings through proactive control of inventory processes.
Handle high-value and sensitive commodities in line with warehouse protocols.
5S & HSSE Adherence
Maintain organization cleanliness labeling and accessibility within inventory zones according to 5S principles.
Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions during physical stock handling.
Operate within all Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE) guidelines applicable to warehousing activities.
Promote a culture of workplace safety and operational discipline during all inventory-related tasks.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in process reviews and continuous improvement projects to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.
Propose practical improvements to reduce stock discrepancies and enhance cycle count execution.
Contribute to cross-functional workshops lean initiatives and Kaizen activities focused on inventory performance.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
Matric / Grade 12 (Compulsory)
Inventory or Stock Control Certification (SAPICS APICS or similar preferred but not mandatory)
Experience
Minimum 3 years in a warehouse environment with proven experience in cycle counting
System Knowledge
Proficient in WMS operations; handheld scanner use essential
Key Skills
Accuracy analytical mindset variance investigation system navigation teamwork
Other
Experience with high-value or regulated stock is advantageous
