Success in this role will be defined by your ability to achieve the following outcomes:
- Lead High-Availability Architecture Enhancement: Within the first 12 months lead the strategic enhancement of the core database infrastructure by fully optimizing Microsoft SQL Always On configurations and replication strategies2. The successful outcome will be a resilient platform with guaranteed near-zero downtime for critical financial applications.
- Overhaul Database Performance & Tuning: Proactively establish and lead a new framework for database performance tuning within the first 9 months. By collaborating with development teams to identify and resolve inefficiencies you will deliver a measurable improvement in query response times and overall application speed.
- Validate Enterprise-Ready Disaster Recovery: Within the first 6 months take full ownership of the disaster recovery and backup strategy. This involves redesigning rigorously testing and fully documenting the recovery protocols to create a validated plan that demonstrably reduces potential data loss and system recovery time in a disaster scenario4.
- Drive Data Platform Modernization Strategy: Act as the key consultant on data the first year you will evaluate and pilot new database technologies including cloud platforms6 and deliver a formal recommendation and roadmap to leadership for a future-state data architecture that aligns with business growth.
- Establish a Center of Excellence for Database Standards: Within the first 6 months create and implement a comprehensive database documentation repository including clear data standards procedures and definitions7. This will establish a single source of truth that improves knowledge sharing reduces onboarding time and ensures operational consistency across all technology teams.
