Job Description

GROUP ACCOUNTANT - SAIPA / CIMA - R50k pm - BELLVILLE

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Oversight & Reporting

    • Manage the close process each month quarter and year.

    • Compile and review detailed financial statements including profit and loss balance sheets and cash flow reports.

    • Deliver insightful management packs with variance explanations forward budgets and key performance metrics.

  2. Project Cost Accounting

    • Set up and maintain cost monitoring tools for development projects.

    • Track actual spend against budgets review progress billings and analyse project margins.

    • Offer finance-led guidance to project managers and directors to support their decisions.

  3. Regulatory Compliance Tax & VAT

    • Adhere to IFRS/South African GAAP standards and relevant regulations.

    • Prepare VAT schedules file returns and handle tax submissions.

    • Coordinate with SARS legal counsel and external tax advisors when necessary.

  4. Audit & Controls

    • Carry out reviews of internal control processes and roll out enhancements.

    • Organise statutory and project specific audits creating all necessary working papers.

    • Address auditor questions and implement suggested improvements.

  5. Payables & Receivables

    • Oversee invoicing collections supplier payments and account reconciliations.

    • Ensure optimal cash flow timing to match project cash needs.

  6. Payroll & Staff Expenses

    • Support payroll calculations benefits accounting and related reconciliations.

    • Process employee expense claims and reimburse reimbursements accurately.

  7. Financial Planning & Analysis

    • Assist in drawing up annual budgets rolling forecasts and long term financial plans.

    • Build financial models to assess potential new developments.

    • Recommend ways to reduce costs and improve finance processes.

  8. Team Leadership & Collaboration

    • Guide and develop junior finance team members and oversee day to day bookkeeping.

    • Liaise closely with senior executives project teams and external stakeholders.



Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.

  • SAIPA / CIMA with 1-2 years Post Articles

  • Strong user level skills in accounting packages (e.g. Pastel Xero QuickBooks) and advanced Excel (pivot tables complex formulas); ERP experience is a plus.

  • Thorough understanding of VAT rules tax law and accounting standards.

  • Demonstrated track record in financial modelling budget management and management reporting.

  • Excellent organisational skills analytical mindset and ability to solve complex issues.

  • Clear and effective communication both written and verbal.

  • Capacity to prioritise tasks independently and perform well under tight deadlines.
