Job Description

Introduction

Our client one of the biggest banks in South Africa who is a firm believer in technical innovation and leading-edge financial solutions is urgently looking for a Senior Managerto support the Business Commercial Banking (BCB) Group and Africa Regions credit leadership in exceeding the strategic and operational goals by coordinating monitoring setting risk appetite and reporting on the delivery of our critical plans and objectives to enhance client focus improve profitability of the portfolio and ensure portfolio performance remains within agreed risk appetite parameters.

Duties & Responsibilities

Risk Appetite Strategy Stress Testing and framework deployment:

  • Drives effective execution of the risk appetite strategy and framework in line with the risk appetite statements the Group Credit Risk Governance Standard and the BCB Credit Policy
  • Provides input into the credit risk business unit strategies to ensure alignment with the desired credit risk profiles
  • Coordinates risk appetite and stress testing activities across the BCB Group and BCB Africa Regions businesses and ensures that risk appetite and stress testing become key management tools for forward-looking portfolio management
  • Shares the credit risk appetite framework and methods proactively through participation in employee orientation sessions and creating awareness in executive engagement sessions

Effective Credit Risk strategy execution and monitoring:

  • Guides the detailed analysis of changes in trends in order to determine the root cause and working the BCB Credit leadership formulates the relevant plan of action where required to ensure that the portfolio remains within risk appetite parameters
  • Compiles / coordinates presentations / reports in preparation for stakeholder feedback sessions (for example SARB BASA Parliament presentations GROC Govco Exco and Credit Risk Management Committee) for both BCB Group and BCB Africa Regions
  • Provides insights / feedback relating to the impact legislative changes may have on BCB Client credit and is responsible for the definition and execution of the appropriate response to such changes in line with the overall Credit strategy
  • Translates strategy into practical implementation
  • Influences relevant stakeholders and monitors progress of action plans arising from credit risk initiatives and audits in order to improve the credit risk environment
