Job Description

Introduction

A leading pharmaceutical company is seekingan experienced and dynamicBusiness Development Managerto drive and expand theirmarket presence in South Africa. The role is focused on identifying new business opportunities building partnerships and expanding the product portfolio within the pharmaceutical sector.

Duties & Responsibilities

Market Research and Analysis:
Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends market needs and competitive dynamics. Provide insights on business opportunities and threats in the South African pharmaceutical market.

Strategy Development:
Collaborate with senior leadership to define business development strategies and set goals aligned with company objectives in the region.

Partnership & Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals distributors government agencies and other relevant stakeholders. Foster collaborations with local and international pharmaceutical companies to drive growth.

Product Portfolio Expansion:
Identify and pursue opportunities for the introduction of new products or the expansion of existing products in South Africa. Develop market entry strategies for new products in line with regulatory standards.

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:
Ensure that all business development initiatives comply with local and international regulatory standards in the pharmaceutical industry. Work with regulatory teams to ensure smooth product registration and market access.

Sales and Revenue Growth:
Develop strategies to drive sales manage key accounts and achieve revenue targets. Utilize market insights to increase market share and meet company sales objectives.

Negotiations and Contract Management:
Lead and manage negotiations for partnerships joint ventures and collaborations. Oversee contract development and manage agreements with partners distributors and stakeholders.

Marketing and Brand Promotion:
Work closely with marketing teams to create awareness and promoteproducts. Support in designing campaigns that align with regional market needs andexpectations.

Reporting and Forecasting:
Provide regular reports and forecasts to senior management on business development activities sales progress and market trends.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Pharmacy Life Sciences or a related field. A Masters degree (MBA) or equivalent advanced qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development sales or marketing within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
  • Proven track record in establishing and managing business relationships in South Africa or the Southern African region.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards in the South African pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving projects in a corporate environment.

Skills

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to identify new business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data.
  • Knowledge of product life cycles and the pharmaceutical market in South Africa.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of additional South African languages is an advantage).
