Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Senior Product Engineer with deep expertise in mainframe development to join a high-impact team working on the implementation of key optimization and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will contribute to the modernization of legacy systems while ensuring the stability and performance of existing applications.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development: Design develop test and debug IBM mainframe applications using COBOL.
System Enhancement: Modify and optimize existing systems to meet evolving business needs.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with developers business analysts and engineers to deliver efficient scalable solutions.
Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve system errors and application issues.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system design process flows and user manuals.
Testing & Deployment: Conduct unit system and integration testing. Support application deployment into production.
System Modernization: Assist in integrating mainframe systems with modern technologies as part of ongoing transformation initiatives.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years working in an IMS environment (IBM Mainframe) with COBOL.
At least 2 years of experience in payment systems.
Matric and a relevant tertiary IT qualification.

Experience with z/OS and mainframe architecture

Understanding of ERDs process flows sequence diagrams and use cases
Knowledge of various software testing approaches
