Are you a strategic data leader ready to drive real commercial impact across Africas FMCG and retail sectors
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned executive to take the reins as Executive Head: Data & Services on behalf of a pioneering company focused on transforming data into actionable intelligence at scale.
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer and working in close partnership with the Chief Commercial Officer the ideal candidate will lead the end-to-end execution of a group-wide data integration and monetisation strategy. This role requires a dynamic blend of technical expertise commercial acumen and executive presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead execution of the Data to Intelligence strategy from stakeholder engagement to systems delivery
- Oversee implementation of data platforms and cross-system integrations (e.g. ERP data lakes)
- Manage product data flows across retailers and manufacturers to enable commercial insights
- Support data monetisation efforts through platform development and strategic partnerships
- Act as the primary liaison for data-driven initiatives both internally and with external stakeholders
- Represent the business at key industry events and contribute to public thought leadership
- Guide AI integration and uphold data governance and compliance across the Group
- Train internal teams and drive change management for new systems and standards
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business Data Science Information Systems or similar
- Minimum 10 years experience in data management digital transformation or related roles
- Strong grasp of FMCG retail or manufacturing data environments and lifecycle flows
- Proven leadership in system implementation and cross-functional collaboration
- Executive communication skills with the ability to influence at board level
- Familiarity with AI tools machine learning models and modern data visualisation platforms
- Understanding of global data standards (e.g. GS1 GDSN)
