Job Description

Provincial Manager Core Business

1. Position Details

  • Job Title: Provincial Manager Core Business
  • Department: FSP Core Business
  • Reports To: Group Managing Executive
  • Location: Multiple Province South Africa
  • Employment Type: Full-time

2. Job Purpose

To enhance the Groups operational effectiveness within a designated province by providing strategic financial and operational leadership to business units (Funerals Burial Services Tombstones Catering). The Provincial Manager ensures business performance compliance customer satisfaction profitability and stakeholder engagement in alignment with Group strategy and directives.

3. Key Responsibilities

Operational Management:

  • Managing day-to-day operations of all the business units reporting to the incumbent including setting and execution of targets tracking progress thereof and looking after staff welfare as they go about their duties.
  • Leave administration of staff and looking after staff welfare of team members reporting to the incumbent in the relevant business units.
  • Preparing and editing reports correspondence and presentations as directed by the senior executive management and submission of the same at agreed times and relevant intervals.
  • Creating and maintaining a professional working environment.
  • Conduct marketing activities when requested to.
  • Assist other departments in their operations.

  • Provide efficient services to other departments and encourage teamwork.

Customer and Sales Management:

  • Providing exceptional quality of client relationship management ensuring zero defect customer service.
  • Responsible for increasing sales by proactively taking ownership of customer experience and attaining sales targets set for the incumbent.
  • Increasing customer satisfaction by ensuring that the clients receive commensurate attention from the relevant business.
  • Working directly with senior executive management in client relationship-building identifying and fostering personal interaction with influential and key decision makers in stakeholder offices.
  • Working with the senior executive management team to drive customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Monitoring and improving customer relationships.
  • Attend client meetings and reports as may be required.
  • Bid and tender identification and compilation of tender documents as may be required from time to time.
  • Maintaining existing and potential clients database.
  • Support inter-branch communication by making sure all stakeholders are well informed of progress.
  • Out of the box thinking ensuring that targets are met without fail.

Financial Management:

  • Attaining and meeting revenue expectations while minimizing lapse and customer attrition.
  • Ensuring cost-control and making sure that the business units operate in a profitable and sustainable manner at all times.

Staff Management and Development:

  • Training development and empowerment of staff.
  • Manage employee morale.
  • Other Human Resources roles including performance management and adherence to code of conduct.

Risk and Compliance Management:

  • Responsible for Risk Management and Compliance for the Province.
  • Identify potential risks raise these to senior executive management and assist with mitigation plans for identified risks.

Stakeholder and Reporting Management:

  • Management of key stakeholders and third-party relationships.
  • Prepare monthly weekly and daily report packs when requested to do so.
  • Attend to any duties as assigned by the executives as and when necessary and when requested to.

4. Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and operational management skills.
  • Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
  • Customer-focused with strong sales and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong compliance and risk management knowledge.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business software.

. Qualifications

  • NQF Level 7-8 qualification in a relevant field.
  • Life insurance and/or burial operations experience preferred.

  • Relevant tertiary development courses an advantage.

6. Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in operations management or administration within medium to large service organizations.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple business units or branches.
  • Experience in insurance or funeral industry preferred.

7. Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with frequent site visits.
  • Extended hours may be required during peak periods or special projects.
