About the Practice
A highly regarded AAHA-accredited small animal practice in Fort Myers delivers high-quality veterinary care across general urgent emergency and wellness services for all species. Fully equipped with an in-house pharmacy lab diagnostics and advanced imaging the team is committed to excellence in care client experience and staff development.
Position Overview
We re seeking an experienced open-minded and people-focused Medical Director to lead our veterinary team. This role combines clinical excellence with leadership responsibilities guiding both patient care and hospital operations to ensure a thriving high-functioning practice. The ideal candidate is as passionate about developing people as they are about practicing quality medicine.
Schedule & Structure
- Open 6 days a week closed on Sundays
- DVMs work three 12-hour shifts weekly
- 1:1 DVM-to-technician ratio for strong support
- Flexible scheduling for leadership duties and clinical work
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality compassionate care to patients in both wellness and urgent care settings
- Lead and mentor the veterinary team fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment
- Partner with practice management on operational decisions workflow improvements and client service initiatives
- Establish and maintain medical protocols ensuring alignment with AAHA standards
- Support recruitment onboarding and development of veterinary staff
- Act as a primary point of contact for complex cases and client communications
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) licensed to practice in Florida
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a veterinary setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client relations
- Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with administrative leadership
- Open-minded flexible and collaborative approach to challenges and opportunities
