Job Description
It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem developing unique financial products including Afterpay/Clearpay to provide a better way to send spend invest borrow and save to our 50 million monthly active customers. The Role
Were on a mission to elevate our key customer flows and experiences establishing Cash App as a next-generation social bank. Were entering a pivotal phase of redesigning how customers experience and move money and this role will be instrumental in shaping that future.
This role is for a Senior Android Engineer for Core Surfaces team which includes primarily Money Search Activity and Profile/Settings. Were looking for someone that is customer-centric able to rapidly prototype new ideas enjoys digging into UX/UI (including motion animations) and brings a high level of ownership and product-mindedness to the team. The ideal candidate has a deep sense of quality and craft often refining the product to deliver delightful polished experiences to our customers.
You Will
- Independently own and drive new initiatives from concept to prototypes while assessing feasibility.
- Collaborate closely with design and product teams to refine ideas into functional experiences while balancing customer impact with technical feasibility.
- Bring a high degree of autonomy ownership and initiative.
- Deliver features to tens of millions of customers while maintaining customer trust as a top priority
- Represent the team in architectural discussions and stakeholder conversations serving as a bridge between our team and the broader mobile organization.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence and mentor engineers of all experience levels.
- Build end-to-end features of the app: networking persistence business logic and UI
- Write durable well-tested code that reflects a high bar for product quality
- Invent thoughtful Android tech and open source it
- Partner with iOS and backend developers on delivering remarkable solutions
- Have a meaningful impact on the future of the Cash App product
You Have
- Experience shipping high-quality Android apps.
- Deep experience with Compose UI; huge plus if you enjoy building new UI patterns in code.
- Typically 10 years of experience creating readable well-crafted and maintainable code
- Experience in early-stage product development is a plus ideally having worked in both a startup and a large company to bridge both worlds.
- Experience voicing customer feedback into product solutions (engineering makes substantive contributions to product definition)
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally especially with design to bring innovative ideas to life.
