Job Description

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is a 100% employee-owned environmental consulting firm. We plan design permit mitigate and restore for projects across our communities infrastructure systems open spaces and wildlands. We are 50 years strong in 21 offices across California the Pacific Northwest and the Southeastern United States.

ESA seeks a highly motivated Senior Aviation Specialistto join our Aviation practice. We are looking for a team member with at least 10-15 years of experience who has the intellectual curiosity and proactivity to continue the advancement of our established team of consultants. This is a senior-level opportunity in our ever-growing team of aviation professionals. The position will primarily support Noise NEPA and Aviation Planning projects across the country. This opportunity is focused on technical analyses and opportunities to grow our practice.

Who You Are

  • You are an effective team member who is well-versed in aviation noise policy analyzing noise impacts conducting airspace analysis designing flight procedures and have a deep understanding related to aircraft fleet evolution air traffic management and emerging technologies.
  • You hold a bachelors or masters degree related to aviation or you have a related degree and directly relevant qualifications.
  • You also have 10-15 years of experience in aviation or environmental consulting or a closely related field.
  • You are proficient in the use of the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAAs) Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) FAAs Terminal Area Route Generation Evaluation and Traffic Simulation (TARGETS) software and other approved noise models and airspace analysis tools.
  • You have experience modeling non-standard conditions and developing methodologies for evaluating noise and operations from emerging technologies.
  • You have experience conducting airspace analyses to inform flight procedure development to reduce noise impacts and are familiar with the FAAs Performance Based Navigation (PBN) design process.
  • You are an expert in FAA noise policy and proficient in the requirements of FAA analyses and regulatory requirements. You are interested in advancing ESAs position as an industry leader.
  • You have excellent problem solving technical writing time/budget management and organizational capabilities.
  • You have exceptional public speaking skills and can concisely convey complex technical topics to diverse audiences of industry and public stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to work collaboratively with clients and interdisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget in a fast-paced work environment.
  • You demonstrate a clear understanding of project management principles and practices and are responsible for the delivery of high-quality work products.
  • You have the ability and desire to mentor junior staff members.

What You Will Do for ESA

  • You will support the Aviation practice with the preparation of noise analyses airspace evaluations and aviation planning activities. You have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will take a lead role in our project work related to emerging technologies and support leadership in developing business and/or strategic plans that incorporate emerging technologies into our practice.
  • You will consistently demonstrate your solid writing skills and attentive listening skills. You will prepare or assist with preparing draft scopes of work and budgets provide technical input contribute to proposal writing identifying opportunities and engaging with proposal/interview teams.
  • You will prepare or assist with preparing presentation materials and will consistently demonstrate your exceptional public speaking skills when presenting materials to stakeholders.
  • You may lead marketing and business development pursuits including developing capture strategies.
  • You will demonstrate a clear understanding of project management principles and practices and be responsible for the development of environmental regulatory compliance and planning documents in accordance with applicable FAA guidelines and requirements while delivering assignments within budget and on schedule.
  • You will serve as an aviation specialist preparing and managing complex analyses and coordinating with key team members including senior staff subconsultants and clients. Familiarity with NEPA14 CFR Part 150 and FAA air traffic regulations and procedures is desirable. You will produce technical work and written products that are clear concise and well supported.
  • You will provide mentorship and support for junior staff including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback and career development guidance while working on projects together.
  • You will thrive in a fast-paced challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while working on a team or independently.
  • The position is for any of our Southeast offices (Tampa FL or Orlando FL) or for remote work.
