Interested in helping developers around the world improve the security posture of their applications We are a fast growing group of engineers building Application Security experiences inside of New Relic and we need your help! Prior security experience is a plus but is not required for this role well teach you what you need to know! We are seeking a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join the Security RX for Applications team.
What youll do
- Full Stack Ownership: Contribute across the entire software development lifecycle from gathering user requirements and designing UI/UX solutions to developing robust backend APIs and ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components.
- Frontend Development: Work with Product and design to produce highly performant and flexible user experiences (30% of your time)
- Prototype and Research: Work on run-ahead prototypes for new features or products.
- Performance & Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in both frontend and backend systems ensuring optimal responsiveness scalability and efficiency of our applications.
- Code Quality & Standards: Write clean maintainable and well-tested code for both UI and backend components adhering to high coding standards and participating actively in code reviews.
- Work at Scale: Build scalable and reliable backend services that remain cost efficient at New Relics scale
- Product Influencer: Be our own first customer and help to guide our products direction with your innovations and feedback.
- System Design: Participate in architectural discussions contributing to the design of scalable resilient and observable distributed systems.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Take ownership of issues from development to production providing support and troubleshooting to ensure the stability and reliability of our services with a keen eye on user-facing aspects.
- Continuous Learning: Grow and improve your skills to continuously push us to deliver higher quality data products and improve how we view developer centric security experiences
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and help them grow in their roles
This role requires
- Engineering Experience: 5 years of Professional experience collaborating as part of an engineering team
- Backend Expertise: Significant experience building backend services in a microservices environment using backend languages and frameworks such as Java Kotlin Python or NodeJS.
- Frontend Proficiency: Professional experience in modern JavaScript (ES6) TypeScript and a leading frontend framework like React (preferred) along with experience in state management (e.g. Redux Context API) and component-based architecture.
- Distributed Systems: Experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems
- API Ownership: Experience building owning and maintaining REST APIs
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical problem-solving and debugging skills with a meticulous attention to detail particularly in visual and interactive elements.
- Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with product managers designers and other engineers translating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience with UI/UX design tools (e.g. Figma Sketch Adobe XD) for prototyping and collaboration.
- Familiarity with New Relic or other observability platforms.
- Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka).
- Experience with App Security and Secure Development Lifecycle activities such as: Threat Modeling Security code reviews or pentesting
- Experience using and/or running App Security products (Security Testing or Vulnerability Management tools such as Dependabot Snyk or Synopsys)
- BS/MS in a field related to Computer Science or Cyber Security

The pay range below represents a reasonable estimate of salary for the listed position. This role may be eligible for the corporate bonus plan. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicants skills qualifications and experience.

Estimated Base Pay Range
$152000 - $190000 USD
