Title: NSC Program Manager

Role Summary: The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) Program Manager will coordinate and facilitate a community-based safety council in the 44th Precinct as part of NYCs Gun Violence Prevention Task Force (GVPTF). This position requires a dynamic community-oriented professional who can build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups facilitate collaborative planning processes and coordinate implementation of neighborhood safety initiatives.
Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Recruit and orient Neighborhood Safety Council members representing diverse sectors including residents community organizations faith institutions businesses schools and government agencies
- Facilitate monthly NSC meetings and support bi-weekly subcommittee meetings
- Lead the development of a comprehensive Neighborhood Safety Action Plan aligned with GVPTF strategies
- Coordinate implementation of community safety projects across seven strategy areas
- Supervise Outreach Worker(s) and manage program administration
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including NYPD representatives elected officials and community organizations
- Manage program documentation and reporting to DYCD
- Represent the NSC at GVPTF strategy sessions and other relevant forums
- Monitor program budget and ensure fiscal compliance
- Perform other projects as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to multiple NYC sites as needed.
Work Environment / Schedule Requirements:
- This is a full-time exempt position. While standard business hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position based on organizational needs deadlines or events.
- May be required to work shifts including evenings or night tours and/or Saturdays Sundays and holidays with holiday pay differential.
- Office setting with regular exposure to computer screens and moderate noise levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in public health public administration criminal justice social work or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community organizing program management or public safety initiatives.
- Strong facilitation skills with experience leading collaborative planning processes and diverse stakeholder meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community members government agencies and law enforcement.
- Experience supervising staff and managing program operations including budgeting and reporting.
- Experience with data collection analysis and reporting
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Self-directed and solutions oriented.
- Must be able to read speak write and understand English for administrative purposes.
- Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
- This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
