Location:Manitou Islands MI
Salary Range:$80000 - $95000 annually DOE
Period of Performance: 753 days; exact dates of performance have yet to be determined


Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Manager for a rehabilitation project on the Manitou Islands in Michigan.

Project/Position Overview:
The project includes a comprehensive rehabilitation of 35 historic structures two ferry docks and utility infrastructure. This project includes demolition of existing docks construction of new docks and dredging to achieve dock placement. Work will also require utility repairs new chlorination building new water service distribution system and septic system upgrades.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
  • Reads interprets and understands the construction contract plans and specifications
  • Arranges attends and facilitates a variety of meetings including weekly meetings at the project site.
  • Documents issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
  • Reviews contractors baseline and progress schedules.
  • Drafts project related correspondence for NPS to review.
  • Understands and documents inspections during and post construction as well as mock-up inspections
  • Inspects the work of the construction contractor for progress workmanship quality and conformance with contract documents applicable building codes and safety standards
  • Delivers reportsand reviewsevaluations design work etc. to CO.
  • Reviews and processes construction contractors RFIs and cost proposals
  • Assists in resolution draft response tracking and follow up.

Required Education Knowledge and Skills:
  • Educationrelated to marine construction utility replacement historic preservation architecture and engineering.; AND 5 years of management experience in the construction management field
  • Experience and/or knowledge of National Historic Landmarks and the performance of historic restoration/rehabilitation work
  • Experiencein marine construction andutility replacement
  • Experience and/or knowledge of abatement and lawful disposal of hazardous materials including bulk asbestos and lead-based paint
  • Understanding of civil mechanical electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience in managing large-scale construction projects particularly those involving historic preservation
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety training preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with construction practices including applicable building codes applicable safety regulations
  • Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
  • Ability to evaluate payment requests
  • Ability to read and interpret plans schedules and other specifications.
  • Written and verbal communication problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of software including MS Teams MS Word MS Excel Adobe Acrobat ProjectTeam Primavera MS Project and other software programs typically utilized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license.
