Your Role: As a Transit Bus Operator youll be responsible for the safe timely and efficient transportation of passengers within the Greeley-Evans Transit service area. Reporting to the Mobility Manager youll play a critical role in ensuring adherence to system policies maintaining on-time performance and prioritizing passenger safety.

** As a condition of receiving City-funded CDL license training employees must repay the City of Greeley four thousand dollars $4000.00 in the event you resign or you are terminated for cause within twenty-four (24) months after your starting date with the City. If you voluntarily resign or are terminated for cause within that period you will be required to repay $4000 or a portion of this depending on length of service to cover the cost of training. Experience Knowledge Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers license (CDL) with P passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions required.
- The ability to obtain a class B CDL with a P passenger endorsement within two (2) months of hire date may substitute. COG will provide necessary training to obtain Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
- Ability to pass and maintain DOT Physical Requirements.
- Participation in Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated Drug and Alcohol testing programs.
OR
- Any combination of related education experience certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Previous Bus Operator experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge understanding and ability to adhere to Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Ability to complete on-going GET bus driver training programs including updates on FTA DOT ADA Paratransit and safety information.
- Excellent knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and has a demonstrated ability to perform duties associated with operating paratransit services including the safe transportation of passengers with disabilities.
- Able to provide exceptional customer service while adhering to transit Department and City policies and procedures perform auxiliary tasks with minimal supervision and provide detailed accurate and objective written and verbal reports to dispatchers and supervisors.
- Ability to adhere to the work requirements of seasonal service demands including overtime and extra shift requirements and limited availability of time off during peak service demands and special events.
- Knowledge of streets locations restaurants and hotels of the GET area.
- Ability to safely operate a bus under adverse weather conditions.
- Skilled in basic computer operations word processing and spreadsheet software.
Essential Functions:
- Operates transit buses along designated routes adhering to established schedules while prioritizing safety.
- Completes daily pre- and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT FTA regulations and city policy reports safety and maintenance issues to maintenance staff.
- Monitors service performance at time points responds to mechanical or route delays and provides support to fellow operators.
- Provides high-quality customer service by answering questions offering directions assisting with boarding (e.g. wheelchairs bikes luggage) and ensuring ADA compliance.
- Responds appropriately in emergency situations (e.g. accidents breakdowns) ensuring passenger safety evacuating if needed and completing required documentation.
- Conducts basic vehicle upkeep including refueling (CNG) cleaning vehicle interiors/exteriors and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
- Performs regular inspections and maintenance of transit amenities (bus stops shelters benches signage) and identifies hazards such as ice snow or damage.
- Prepares incident/accident reports and documents public complaints accurately and objectively.
- Acts as a team player by communicating service updates and concerns with supervisors and peers and contributes ideas for improving safety and efficiency.
- Supports route planning and scheduling activities through input and feedback to supervisors.
- Provides informal guidance and coaching to new or current operators and may assist in operator training and policy/procedure clarification.
- Uses transit technologies such as tablets automated fare systems AVL radios and destination signs; helps train others in their use as needed.
- Maintains professionalism clean appearance and clear radio communication at all times.
- Promotes a culture of safety by reporting hazards adhering to protocols and ensuring safe environments for passengers and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Employee is subject to working alone with groups and/or attending meetings.
- May be required to conduct business in alternate locations within City buildings or field sites sometimes in formal settings.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data/figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading of printed materials; visual inspection involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices--graphs and gauges; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

- Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g. 30 lbs) and use of medium weight tools; walking on uneven ground or having to climb balance stoop kneel crouch crawl and reach while performing duties; entering/exiting manholes or vaults; walking near or across rivers andditches; working in all weather conditions at times of excessive temperatures ofheat and extreme cold working in or near moving traffic with appropriate traffic control set up;
