Summary:As part of the Engineering team this position is responsible for providing well control engineering support to emergency field response specifically relief well operations and various other well control related projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide well control (WC) engineering to support client projects or studies
- Interact with client involving personal visits submitting proposals and work products making presentations
- Provide engineering support to the companys field operations for both emergency and non-emergency operations
- Develop improve and implement WC technology to maintain companys leadership position in the industry
- Participate in process optimization and other internal company projects
- Document above as needed including correspondence proposals reports and invoices
- Work outside of normal office hours as needed to support emergency WC operations
- Perform above duties at the company office client office and field locations as needed
- Participate in client presentations conferences and trade shows to promote companys capabilities
- Some long distance domestic or overseas travel may be required from time to time
- Other duties as defined by Supervisor
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 or more years of work experience with the operator or service side of the upstream oil and gas industry; preferably in drilling workover snubbing or production. Preference will be given to candidate engineers with significant hands-on operations experience as well as those who have been involved with a wide range of operations (land offshore arctic domestic and international).
- 10 or more years of work experience in the provision of emergency relief well operations.
- 10 or more years of work experience in the development of emergency response plans for well control incidents.
- Knowledge and experience with numerical simulations.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office: Word Excel and Power Point
- Ability to think out of the box
- Ability to apply experience and skills to new challenges
- Ability to examine the basics of a problem rather than relying on traditional processes
- Team player with leadership skills that can be effective in management by influence when needed
- Communications skills - Technical writing and presentations skills. Ability to hold technical discussions with peers and clients
- Good interpersonal skills able to deal with a wide range of situations and personalities
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Self-starter capable of working and prioritizing projects with little supervision
Education:
- BS or above in Engineering preferably Petroleum Mechanical or Chemical equivalent in working/field experience in the planning engineering and execution of relief wells in response to well control emergencies.
