Job Description
Overview
Challenger Lifts Inc. a division of Snap-on is seeking a candidate to be responsible to motivate organize and direct the employees in the shipping /receiving and parts department to complete their assigned tasks in a safe efficient and cost effective manner ensuring orders are shipped complete and on-time.
Responsibilities
- Manage department by establishing procedures and adjusting as necessary to meet shipping schedules increase efficiencies and meet or exceed budget objectives.
- Implement continuous improvements to improve productivity and quality.
- Ensure that transportation related activities are completed to ensure that customer orders ship out accurately and completely and that exceptions are either resolved in advance or properly communicated to the affected parties.
- Manage the relationship with the outside service logistics and transportation providers.
- Schedule all work and personnel based on daily shipping/receiving requirements.
- Ensure that all associates within the departments are properly trained and provide training where needed.
- Document and improve Shipping Department processes. Use the system to manage and update processes.
- Work corroboratively with other departments/supervisors ensuring departmental or location goals are met or exceeded
- Emphasize the importance of and ensure a safe healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with government and company safety and environmental policies.
- Resolve all shipping issues in a timely manner.
- Provide appropriate assistance and referrals to employees regarding problems or complaints.
- Ensure all goods are properly received and stocked
- Ensure inventory is accurately accounted for. Investigate and fix inventory receiving and shipping errors.
- Counsel and discipline associates as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in shipping and receiving processes including loading/unloading of trucks
- High School diploma required
- College degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience in a shipping/receiving
- Proficient in driving a forklift
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent in understanding documents needed to ship and receive product.
- Excellent interpersonal skills flexibility and teamwork are required
- Must be dependable
- Must be able to follow through with instructions from the Plant Manager
- Must be able to focus on tasks at hand and complete them
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time
- Working knowledge of 6S and Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Must be able to make decisions and accept responsibility for those decisions
- Excellent conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of safety compliance regulations as they pertain to the department
- Work flexible hours (i.e. overtime as needed)
- Must align with Snap-on mission statement
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes; Hi-Vis Vest Steel Toe Shoes Safety Glasses or Prescription Safety Glasses (If Applicable) Gloves (If Applicable) and Ear Plugs (If Applicable).
- Must adhere to safety guidelines
