The Softball Assistant Coach Pitching is responsible for assisting the Softball Head Coach in organizing and managing all phases of a Division I Softball program including recruiting team travel strength & conditioning student-athlete academic monitoring public speaking competition scheduling budget management and community/donor relations.

Brief Description of Duties

  • Coaches team at practices and competitive events.
  • Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to developing the pitchers setting up and overseeing individual pitcher/catcher workouts
  • Assist the Head Coach with oversight of the academic and personal well-being of student-athletes.
  • Assist in building a nationally competitive Division I program through successful recruiting and retention of high-level student-athletes.
  • Collaborates with Head Coach Athletic Trainers and Strength & Conditioning Coach to design both academic year (in season and out-of-season) and summer conditioning programs.
  • Assist with budgeting reconciling expenses and proposing purchases for sports program.
  • Serve as key liaison to the broader (University) community engaging in alumni fund raising and other key stakeholder activities.
  • Organizes community service events for the team.
  • Responsible for assisting in all phases of a Division I intercollegiate softball program which includes scheduling recruiting travel coordination and fundraising.
  • Must be committed to the academic goals of the university and follow the rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Mountain West Conference
  • Candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity in age cultural background ethnicity primary language and academic preparation through inclusive teaching strategies and advisement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or relevant softball pitching instruction preferably at the DI level
  • Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study training teaching and other comparable experience.

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Successful Division I collegiate or professional softball coaching experience

Employment Conditions

Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required based on their role (e.g. preventing discrimination and harassment gender equity and Title IX health and safety). Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) and CSU system wide policy the faculty member in this position will subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Individuals designated as Campus Security Authorities are required to immediately report Clery incidents to the institution and to complete Clery Act training as determined by the University Clery Director. Questions regarding CSA designation and training can be sent to the Clery Director at The President may recommend or require compliance with safety measures that decrease the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission or illness and allows the core mission and activities of the campus to continue.

Compensation

Classification: 2379/Coaching Specialist

Anticipated Salary: $6538

CSU Salary Range: $6538/monthly - $11642/monthly

Conditional Offer

Athletic coach appointments are temporary by nature expire at the end of the term stated and do not establish any future appointment rights. The position does not qualify for or lead to tenure but may be extended on an annual basis.

The work for this faculty position is located in the State of California. Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Proof of immunization against COVID-19 or proof of a medical or religious exemption and compliance with testing protocols is required for employment. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
