$26.10 Hourly

Description

THIS PART-TIME ROLE IS 15 HOURS PER WEEK MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY WITH A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE. NON-BENEFIT ELIGIBLE EXCEPT FOR PERSONAL AND SICK TIME.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision of the Information Technology Manager incumbent provides Helpdesk support to staff in facilities located throughout the Town.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provides Helpdesk support services to Town staff including the following:
    1. Troubleshoots technology problems on a variety of equipment and software
    2. Installs simple systems applications and updates
    3. Installs simple software applications
    4. Records related activities in applicable databases
  2. Monitors Uninterruptable Power Supply systems for servers and switches and replaces batteries to maintain operability.
  3. Assists with the physical installation of network printing devices.
  4. Contributes to a respectful and safe work environment by fostering a culture of positive communication ethical behavior and emphasis on providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Performs other duties as required.
  2. May support web conferencing meetings ensuring working order or equipment and coordinate pre-production details with presenters or staff.
  3. May troubleshoot technical web conferencing problems for panelists and attendees on a variety of devices such as personal computers laptop computers tablets and smart phones.
  4. May prepare recorded meetings for publication encode closed captioning and publish to the Town website archive recordings in accordance with current state regulations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE:

  • Proficient with Windows-based computers current Windows operating systems Microsoft Office products Internet browser connectivity Apple and Android tablets and smart phones
  • Ability to diagnose computer-related problems and explain solutions to end users in an accessible manner
  • Ability to relate positively to staff members and the public; excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of state traffic laws

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stoop kneel and stretch for short periods to install equipment
  • Ability to push/pull/lift objects of up to sixty (60) pounds occasionally and sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to perform gross motor skills such as moving and placing computer equipment
  • Ability to perform fine motor manipulative skills requiring hand-eye coordination such as keyboarding and connecting small component parts
  • Ability to see objects closely as in reading typing and connecting small component parts
  • Ability to hear normal sounds with background noise distinguish voice patterns and communicate clearly with speech as in using a telephone
  • Ability to attend to detail and concentrate for sixty (60) minutes or more with frequent interruptions remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time and understand the theories behind several related concepts

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Certification trade school technology certificate or college classes in Computer Science or equivalent education/training
  • Network Certification desirable

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:

  • Drivers License
