Job Description

  • Expertise in ocean salinity (and its relation to the Earths water cycle) and coupled climate modelling
  • Full-time 4.5-year fixed-term role based in Hobart Tasmania

About the Opportunity

This Research Associate position is based at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) a globally recognised centre of excellence in marine and climate science at the University of Tasmania. As part of the prestigious ARC Laureate Fellowship project Precision Climate Tracking the role focuses on investigating changes in ocean salinity and the Earths water cycle - key to understanding the planets hydrological response to climate change.

The successful candidate will contribute to a high-impact research program that delivers precise policy-relevant insights into the evolving climate system. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team this role offers the opportunity to shape national and global understanding of climate mitigation efforts and support decision-makers with robust scientific evidence.

Salary

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155885 comprising base salary within the range of $114766 to $133235 plus 17% superannuation. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship may be considered for the right applicant.
