Job Description

Intern - IT Risk & Cybersecurity (Summer 2026)

Clark Schaefer Consulting a division of Clark Schaefer Hackett

Location:Cincinnati OH

Position Summary

As an intern on the IT Risk & Cybersecurity team at Clark Schaefer Consulting you will gain firsthand experience supporting real-world client engagements across a wide range of cybersecurity and IT risk domains. You will assist in delivering services such as security assessments IT audits compliance readiness and policy development. This role offers exposure to industry frameworks (e.g. NIST ISO CMMC) hands-on learning with leading tools and the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals committed to protecting clients digital assets and operations. You must be a current student who is ambitious about service excellence and has a future career goal in cybersecurity or consulting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside an experienced team delivering IT risk compliance audit and cybersecurity services to high-profile clientele
  • Develop and uphold working relations with associates and clients while demonstrating your professionalism working in a business atmosphere
  • Assist with the development of project plans methodologies and work programs as needed
  • Communicate effectively as you collaborate with other highly skilled professionals to complete work provide quality deliverables and achieve objectives
  • Utilize tools for data analysis process automation and reporting to support client deliverables
  • Attend internal training sessions to build knowledge in cybersecurity risk management and consulting methodologies.
  • Contribute ideas to define new processes and procedures
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices
  • Engage in firm-sponsored networking and professional development events
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support client and team needs

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors and/or Masters in Cybersecurity Information Technology Information Systems Computer Science or related degrees
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies frameworks and industry standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel Word Outlook)

Preferred:

  • Exposure to cybersecurity concepts such as compliance frameworks vulnerability management or IT auditing
  • Previous internship or project experience in IT cybersecurity or consulting

Competencies:

  • Interest in cybersecurity IT risk and consulting with a desire to explore multiple service areas
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a professional demeanor
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and adaptable in both in-person and remote work environments
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and take initiative in a collaborative setting
