Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: Serve as career navigator for customers who have been determined work ready to manage and support their efforts to secure employment in an occupation of interest.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide job matching services in accordance with the Job Matcher Road Test manual developed by Mathematica;
  • Participate in all job matching training and meetings scheduled by Philadelphia Works (PWI) and Mathematica;
  • Interview customers who have been determined as work ready and referred by their Workforce Advisor (WA) including customers who are enrolling in occupational training to assess work attitude skills occupational interests;
  • Review Stepping Stones to Workplace Success and recommend available resources that are well-aligned to where the customer may need additional support;
  • Identify jobs and careers or interest with customer to develop a job search plan that includes specific goals and tasks using the approach outlined in the Job Matcher Road Test manual;
  • Ensure that the customer meets the qualifications of their occupation of interest;
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to customer to review and upgrade resume improving interviewing skills or other areas to enhance job search success;
  • Help the customer research and apply for job openings through PA CareerLink Indeed Monster and other employment search engines;
  • Screen and refer customers to job openings available through CLNW Job Developers and System Wide Services Business Services Representatives and Business Services Liaisons if open opportunities are well-aligned to the customers interests;
  • Schedule customer to participate in on-site CLNW Hiring Fairs and Job Fairs hosted by other agencies;
  • Meet regularly with customer to review job search activities and plans and provide additional supports as needed;
  • Enter all customer job search activity in Mathematica developed Job Search Tracker;
  • Cut and paste case notes and enter other required information into ClientTrack and CWDS;
  • If job openings are not available in the customers area of interest notify Job Developer Team Lead; this way job development can be done with intentionality and in response to customer interest
  • Inform Job Developer Team Lead of employers with job openings for follow up by a Job Developer;
  • Meet with customers Workforce Advisor on a regular basis to provide updates on job search activities and coordinate services provided to the customer;
  • Refer customer back to Workforce Advisor for supportive services assistance and other areas of need;
  • Assist customer in obtaining new employment if job ends or employment offering higher wages and career advancement opportunities;
  • Provide other reports to the Job Developer Team Lead as required; and
  • Attend Impact meetings as required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in social work human services or related field; and or equivalent experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Sound knowledge of Office computer software;
  • Highly organized with ability to effectively track and coordinate information;
  • Strong customer-centered approach to services;
  • Knowledge of job search web sites and engines;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook;
