Job Description

Danaher Life Sciences is looking for a VP Strategy professional to contribute to the strategic direction of our Genomic Medicine Group comprised of Aldevron and IDT. The VP Strategic Development will specifically drive strategic planning and execution for the Genomic Medicine Group. The person in this role will be a thought leader with the vision leadership and experience to orchestrate a compelling strategic business plan and lead research analysis and synthesis of strategic priorities and oversee their execution within the business.

The VP Strategy will closely partner with other senior leaders and the Operating Companies within the Genomic Medicine Group to develop articulate and execute business strategies that drive meaningful improvements in human health and in turn drive market share gains maximize profitability and drive shareholder value.

Key Objectives:

  • As a Strategy Leader you will own the end-to-end strategic process - from vision through execution - to achieve sustainable growth.
  • Lead market work within both existing spaces and adjacent spaces in order to open up strategic opportunities for the Genomic Medicine Group.
  • Develop thought leadership on industry trends both emerging and established to ensure business is aligned to capitalize and establish a market leadership position.
  • Lead the formation of a coherent strategic plan in collaboration with Corporate leadership that clearly conveys a differentiated and defensible position for the Genomic Medicine Group.
  • Oversee investments in line with the strategic plan and strategic priorities at Group and Operating Company level
  • Communicate guide & mentor the Strategic planning process for the Operating Companies within the Group.
  • Facilitate workshops that encourage reflection effective tool utilization and the development of deep insights for the Operating Company strategic initiatives.
  • Create an inclusive environment and utilize diverse talent in market research & insight development to elevate talent & produce higher quality initiatives.
  • Build a small team with subject matter expertise to perform market analysis & synthesis and support the execution of strategic initiatives

Preferred Background:

  • 10 years evaluating the market attractiveness and strategic fit of new businesses/markets/domains.
  • 5-10 years in a top-tier consulting firm or equivalent experience focused on market analysis and/or growth/strategy commercial projects.
  • Undergraduate degree in Genomic Medicine related field of study (e.g. Biology Biochemistry Molecular Biology Genetics or similar) and top tier MBA or other graduate degree required.
  • Substantial experience and/or formal education that has allowed the development of a deep understanding of industry trends and the competitive landscape resulting in key customer insights and empathy.
  • 2-5 years experience executing in a non-consulting role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well cross-functionally and to interact with executives at the most senior levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex business issues while simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability.
  • Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high ethical moral and personal values in decisions communications actions and when dealing with others.
