You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Respiratory Care Manager has a thorough knowledge and proficiency in the skills of adult (ages 18-65) geriatric (ages 66 and over) neonatal (birth to 12 months) and occasionally adolescent (ages 12-17) respiratory care. The manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Lab departments. The manager presents a pleasing and helpful manner to the patient physicians visitors members of the department and all other medical personnel. The manager exhibits courteous behavior when addressing the general public and outside hospital related agencies. The manager supports and contributes to departmental and hospital objectives by assisting the director and by giving instruction and guidance to the employees supervised.
Essential Functions:
Reviews departmental financial and quality performance with director monthly
Responds to customer satisfaction concerns and requirements
Monitors staffing levels skill mix qualifications and competencies and consults with the supervisor if adjustments appear necessary
Monitors and evaluates the level and quality of services
Manages the timeliness and appropriateness of services
Facilitates and manages the establishment and the implementation of priorities
Manages materials and inventory within the department and assist with evaluations of new equipment/products
Manages the recruitment the retention and the development of staff
Monitors and facilitates the orientation to the department monitors and facilitates the provision of in-service/CEU training and facilitates the testing of competencies
Assures the competency of the Respiratory Therapy Department staff and reports to director
Manages all aspects of the employees reporting to them including but not limited to completion of performance evaluations continued documentation/evaluation or competency and facilitating crucial conversations and corrective action
Manages the productivity of the department and provides monthly reports to the director
Investigates and responds to occurrence reports and communicates issues with the Risk Management department
Education:
Bachelors degree in respiratory therapy or related degree. An associate degree in Respiratory Therapy and 10 years of leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelors degree.
Masters degree in related field (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum five years experience as a Respiratory Therapy department supervisor or equivalent experience (required)
Licensure:
Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care Mandatory License (required)
Certification:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) (required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
