The Role

As a Backend Developer at Viaplay youll work on improving and developing our platform to meet the challenges of a continuously growing user base. Your contributions will directly influence how we attract and convert visitors into loyal users of our commercial streaming platform in our Engineering organization. Youll contribute to building and refining our backend services as well as supporting our product teams with a seamless user experience by aligning the backend and tooling.

Were modernizing our services to enhance scalability and performance and youll play a key role in driving this transformation. With a cutting-edge serverless architecture built on Rust and AWS youll thrive in an innovative and forward-thinking tech environment.

Youll join a newly formed platform team thats small but mighty with members in Stockholm and Barcelona. Our mission To deliver platform solutions that align with both technical and product visions focusing on the commercial structure of our streaming service.

Heres what your daily challenges might look like:

• Take ownership of technical design complexity assessment development testing and deployment
• Collaborate with other teams transforming our platform into modern solutions
• Participate in weekly guild meetings contributing to best practices long-term strategy and maintaining technical excellence
• Continuously invest in your personal growth and skill development

What were looking for

We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and thats why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But in order to thrive in this role we do believe youll have at least some experience in the following:

• Developing services using technologies such as or Rust
• Strong grasp of object-oriented programming principles
  
• Familiarity with test-driven or behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD) and related frameworks
  
• Experience developing services in cloud environments preferably AWS
  
• A track record of contributing to refactoring initiatives in a dynamic organization
  
• Curious and motivated by collaborating with and supporting other teams

Its a bonus if you have:

• Experience building state-less high-transactional end-user products
• Advanced knowledge of AWS services (S3 SQS Lambda DynamoDB etc)
